About.

Horacio Garcia Rosas formally started his art career at a very young age in the city of Saltillo, Mexico. In 1981, he was very fortunate to complete his first art workshop with Fernando Flores Sanchez, who was a former disciple of one of the greatest muralist artists Mexico ever produced to the world, the legendary David Alfaro Siqueiros. With Horacio’s spirit permeated with new possibilities of colors, shapes, canvas, and self-expression, he would fully take the reins towards a life-long search of art exploration.

During the next five years of non-stop and intense art activity, he became a student of renowned local art institutions and participated in multiple art exhibits. His name and artistic talent quickly garnered recognition after 1983, when he won fifth place in the drawing category during the Center of Vitro Art contest, which is one of the most prestigious art events held in Northern Mexico.

Burning with an inner desire to be in the places of mainstream arts in Mexico, he felt the urge to travel to new horizons, and in 1986, he left his hometown for the mythical city of Oaxaca, Mexico, where he immediately joined a workshop founded by the maestro Rufino Tamayo, one of the most internationally recognizable modern painting artist from Mexico.

Famed Argentinian Art Critic, Raquel Tibol was also President of the Jury on that occasion.

During his two-year stay in Southern Mexico, Horacio was recognized by Rufino Tamayo himself with an honorific mention during an art contest held by the Rufino Tamayo art workshop. He was also given the City of Oaxaca of Juarez prize art recognition by the City of Oaxaca Government. Horacio also sought to approach other influential artists of the time and enrolled in high-level art workshops with art masters such as Shinzaburo Takeda and Luis Velasco.

With new knowledge, art exhibits, prizes, and recognitions under his arm, Horacio traveled back to Northern Mexico where he engaged in a fructiferous art production that led him, until today, to offer multiple art workshops, participate in art exhibits, solo and collective, locally and into multiple neighboring Mexican States and also internationally in La Habana.
